MY STORY

Hi! My name is Shaylee. I was born and raised in Washington State, just 40 minutes outside Seattle. Being raised in Washington, I was surrounded by good food, good coffee, and lots of rain. It’s my favorite part of living here, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Beyond exploring new restaurants and coffee shops, I love traveling and fashion. I got married in August 2021, right at the height of the pandemic, to my husband, Quenntin. He’s my best friend, and I’m so happy he supports me as I work from home and run my own business.

ABOUT BURNT TOAST ONLINE

My love of writing began in junior high and developed as I went to college. I was invited to join my college’s social media marketing program and learned to apply that love to building brands for small businesses. As time passed, I gained digital marketing experience at several companies and worked at a creative marketing agency in Tacoma, Washington. My specialties developed, and I decided it was time to venture out independently in 2023. That’s when I developed Burnt Toast Online, a social media marketing and web design company that services businesses nationwide.

TWO YEARS OF COLLEGE, EIGHT IN THE FIELD

Do you know how I got started in social media management? In 2015, I started business school and was soon invited to join their beta social media marketing program. I graduated in 2017 and have been working in digital marketing since! Even though college does give you great tools to get your career started, a majority of my knowledge and experience comes from working with different companies from 2016 till now.

FROM MARKETING AGENCY TO FREELANCE

I started freelancing in 2017 and opened my first business, the Clever Media Company. After a couple of years, I closed that business to focus on growing my skills elsewhere. Since then, I became the Director of Online Marketing at a bakery startup and then worked as the Head of Social Media and Website design at a local marketing agency. In 2023, I decided to take everything I had learned and return to my dream of being a full-time freelancer.

DOZENS OF BUSINESSES, FROM SMALL TO LARGE

Throughout my career as both a freelancer and a marketing agency professional, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with numerous businesses, ranging from quaint family-owned vacuum stores to expansive medical corporations. While I have gained experience in various industries, my genuine passion lies in assisting food and beverage brands. The diverse knowledge I have acquired from working across multiple sectors equips me with a comprehensive approach to helping restaurants and cafes flourish by enhancing their business and brand.
